Inscribed: "A vila mon {coeur} garde il mo" which translates as "Here is my {heart}, guard it well". The original poesy ring from which this design was derived, was from the 14th century and is now in the British Museum. It is inscribed on the outside in early or period French including a heart symbol instead of the word for heart; a charming device. The poesy sentiment speaks of the trust involved when giving one's heart, as true today as it was in the 1300s.
